I want you to think of a time where you felt like you had to plan your entire life out by yourself because this world scared you. You felt lost and terrified. You had nowhere to go and you really didn’t know what to do with the rest of your life. I believe everyone goes through this stage sometime in their life. It is ok to feel clueless and you are not going to know every detail about what your life would look like in ten years. That is ok too.
If you are currently in college or have already graduated, you probably don’t know where God is going to take you and that is why you are afraid. Honestly, I understand that. I am half way through college and once again, I have these doubts pop up in my mind…
Am I doing the right thing? Is this what God wants me to do with my life? Am I even enough? Am I truly letting God write His own story for my life? You get the point, the list goes on.
Lately, I have been working on myself to have an open mind about where God wants me to go and what He has planned for me to become. It’s honestly difficult to have that mindset because what if you are currently working towards something that God doesn’t want you to do, but it is something you enjoy doing? Have you ever been in a situation like that before?
Once you let God hold the pen and have Him write your story His way, the fear of being lost will vanish. I know it is difficult to just go with the flow and have God lead the way especially when you are still in the dark. When you are in this moment of your life, you need to trust God more than anything right now and trust that He does have something incredible planned for you. You need to only focus on your own life instead of someone else’s.
In this world, comparing someone’s life to our own has been the “norm” and it is this constant cycle. For instance, if you were scrolling on social media and saw that someone you know got married or engaged, you end up feeling bad for yourself since you are not married. Then, you start to wonder why you haven’t met that someone yet. You see, we need to stop putting ourselves down like that and start realizing God’s timing is always perfect. It is not all about being on your time frame for these memorable events; it is in God’s time. We need to trust His judgment because He knows exactly when He wants to bless your life and He might even surprise you!
When you find the time, please listen to “Trust In You” by Lauren Daigle.
“When you don’t move the mountains I’m needing you to move. When you don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through. When you don’t give the answers as I cry out to You. I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You.” ~Lauren Daigle
If you are one of the ones who really doesn’t know where God wants you to go and you feel lost, I want you to know that you are never alone. There are people out in the world who are going through the same thing you are right now. Sooner or later you will know everything God has planned for you, but while you are waiting, you should pray. You may try to make your own plans for your life however, God will do what He decides for you.
Lastly, I want to tell you something about what my priest said at church and it touched me. He said, “Do the best you can and God will reward you.” This quote spoke to me on so many levels because I needed to hear that.
God’s story for you is more than you can ever imagine and I pray God blesses your life tremendously.
