Hey, my Sweet friends! I want to talk to y’all about something that has been on my mind lately.

Have you ever had something taken away from you just like that? How did you feel about it? I bet you were mad and you couldn’t understand why God took whatever it was away from you.

You probably missed it and that your life didn’t feel the same without it; you felt lost.

You still didn’t understand why God wanted you to give it to Him.

You might feel broken because of it and you start to believe that it is impossible for God to put all of your broken pieces back together.

You’re afraid to trust God again with your life because He took away something of yours. Then you start questioning all of the plans He has for you. I totally get it!

This reminds me of the time when I lost my new (new to me) car, I was honestly devastated.

First, I had the car for less than a year so it didn’t last as long as I wanted it to.

It had a few miles on it.

It was my first car that was so nice and it even smelt like a brand new car!

It had an Econ button, which reduces the amounts of times you fill up; it is basically like the low power mode on your phone, but for a car. I could go a long time without getting gas.

It had a feature where I could connect Pandora from my phone and it would play songs through the speakers of the car.

Long story short, God took all of it away from me.

When I think about the situation I was in a year ago, I think about this picture. You have probably seen it before. In the picture, there is a girl holding a tiny teddy bear and telling God how she loves it; she doesn’t want to hand it to Him. Then God is saying, “Just trust me…” along with Him having a gigantic teddy bear behind His back. Looking back, does this make you think of a time where you didn’t want to give something up that you really loved? Were you the little girl in the picture?

I don’t know about you, but the little girl was me when I had to give up my new Honda Civic and I couldn’t understand why! I also had so many Jesus talks in that car and I didn’t want to give that up. I was devastated when I found out that it was totaled and couldn’t be fixed. The funny thing was that all of this happened right before the week of Spring Break and we didn’t find a car for me until April 14; it was only March!

The whole finding a new car process took forever because I wanted another Honda Civic, but you can’t always get your way, you know? We would spend countless hours looking at cars online, we couldn’t “find the one.”

Then one day, my grandparents found a car that was totally different than a Honda Civic and it even had the gas tank on the right side of the car. Mind you, the Honda Civic had the gas tank on the left so that would take some time to get used to! Honestly, I was so picky during this entire process. That car ended up becoming mine and I didn’t like it at first because it wasn’t the same. However, I felt so grateful to have a car again and that my life was finally getting back to normal because trust me, it felt like I would be in this situation forever! We can sometimes get caught up in taking having a car for granted to the point we don’t know what it’s like to be without one until it happens to us. This was such a valuable lesson to me and I still remember what it felt like to not have a car for about a month, but I’m thankful to have amazing grandparents who took me to and from school during that time of my life.

I still don’t have the answer to why God took the car away from me, but I’m thankful He did because I learned so much from it. I wouldn’t change anything about what I went through because it made me who I am today. Who knew that God had something bigger and better for me hiding behind His back! I just had to trust Him.

Has this ever happened to you before? Were you afraid to let go and trust God that He would replace it with something better? God will always restore what we have lost and bless us something that is better than whatever it was, just like How God had a huge teddy bear behind His back in the picture!

God always has a purpose for everything, even though it is difficult for us to understand. He knows what He is doing and we just have to keep on trusting Him throughout all of it.

He will replace everything you lost and put all of your broken pieces back together again, will you trust Him?

When you find the time, please listen to “I’m Listening” by Chris McClarney Ft. Hollyn.

“When sorrows roar and troubles rage, You whisper peace when I don’t have the words to say. I won’t lose hope when storms break. You keep Your Word, oh and Your promises will keep me safe. I don’t wanna miss one word You speak. So quiet my heart, I’m listening.”

Remember, when God takes away something from your life, it means He has something better waiting for you behind His back.
