Hey everyone, I hope y’all are having a beautiful day! I’m going to talk to y’all about self-care and things you can do to help you be in a healthy state of mind. This is such an important topic because even though we may think someone is happy and living a wonderful life, we don’t know what is actually going on inside of them. We don’t know how a person really feels internally because they make look like they are happy, but on the inside they feel lonely and depressed. I know we all try to put on a happy face on the outside because we don’t want our burdens to affect those we love. With that being said, there are ways we can help our own selves first and then, help others with this.

“An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly.” – Unknown
1. Make yourself your number one priority
When you put yourself first by taking care of your own needs and health, you can start caring for other people. This is a must for making sure that you are doing things that are best for you. When you don’t make yourself a priority in your life, then you’re unable to take care of others so that is why it’s important to take care of yourself first! This also means to do whatever makes you happy and shifting your focus on you instead of the opinions of others.
“Next time you find yourself feeling anxious, make an effort to stop immediately and self-regulate your thinking. Ask yourself why you feel this way. Answer yourself. Discuss with yourself. Be honest with yourself. You may not like the truth, but once you name why you feel anxious only then can you start to find healing.” -drleaf.com
2. Check-in with your mental state
The quote above says it all! We need to start becoming more aware of how we feel on the inside and acknowledge it. We need to accept it and then figure out what we can do in order to find healing.
Ask yourself these questions:
How am I feeling on the inside?
Do I feel anxious, lonely, depressed, angry, unloved, etc.?
Why am I feeling this way? Point it out to yourself.
What do I need to do to help me become the healthiest version of myself?
You need to declare whatever you are going through in your mind and you have to point it out to yourself. When you do this, you’re making yourself more aware of how you feel inside and I believe we need to all start having mental “check-ups” with ourselves. We need to figure out what is going on in the inside of us because our thoughts can really take a toll on us if we don’t help better our mental state. This tip is beneficial for all of us because we all need help and to be healed. You’re not alone in this fight.
“Notice the people who are happy for your happiness, and sad for your sadness. They’re the ones who deserve special places in your heart.”
3. Have a loving, uplifting support system
Now, when you are aware of your thoughts and how you feel on the inside, you truly need to have a support system who brings out the best in you. In order to have a support system, you must choose someone in your life that you’re comfortable with telling them everything, even when you have bad days. The person you pick should be the same person you go to when you just need a shoulder to cry on or need to let things out. This person simply has no judgement towards you whatsoever and he or she is always there for you whenever you need them the most. This person is your BFFFL (Best Friend Forever For Life)! We all need to have someone like that in our lives because it does help us so much to just talk things out with someone and tell them how we truly feel on the inside. Remember: your support system will be happy for you when you’re happy and sad for you when you’re sad – they won’t try to make you feel bad or bring you down!
“Give it to God and go to sleep.”
4. Go to sleep early
I’m so guilty of this last self-care tip… I know, I’m not the only one who stays up really late, especially worrying about all of the things you have to do the next day! My sleep schedule is so messed up right now since I have been finished with the spring semester because during the semester I had morning classes that would start at 9 AM. I would wake up every morning at 5:30 AM (at least tried to) to workout because it helps me start my day off right AND it has helped me so much with my mental health. Now, waking up that early is a different story – I have been staying up late at night and then waking up at 10 AM! I need to get out of that habit soon because I truly believe by waking up early before the world wakes up helps you to have a much more productive day. Your body does need a certain amount of hours each night of sleep and when you don’t get enough sleep, you will be grouchy and it can impact your mental health. Try turning off your phone an hour before you go to sleep and do something that will help you to relax at night like, read a book or even listen to a Podcast!

I hope some of you have found these tips to be helpful and let me know if you enjoy reading these type of blog posts because I love talking about self-care! Beautiful! A blessed & helpful post! I needed to read this. I daily talk to myself, self examine myself, etc and trust me we ALL should be doing that ever so often. Its very imperative. Especially in our walk with Christ. Gosh! Girl I’m so guilty of going to sleep late @ night but its for good reasons. I stay up to pray, fast, intercede so that’s why 🙂 but I do get up early in the morn! Praises to God cause I was NEVER an early waker. Exercising & reading the Lord’s word helps me BIG time. Blessings!

I love that you are basically talking about self-reflection. We often get so wound up and busy with life that we don’t leave room for self-reflection. I agree with self-love and self-care, but I would say that we need to remember who our worth comes from and rely on God to help us! 🙂

Self-reflection is so important! I agree with knowing that our worth comes from God and not from the other things in this world!😊

What if there was an option to be completely free of all of it? What if we knew that God is alive on His throne and ready to deliver any of us? It is possibly, we do not have to remain fixed or connected to the medical system, I am living proof. After being medicate for 27 years due to trauma I am now free of all meds. There is hope for anyone who desires it.

If we knew all of that, then we probably wouldn’t have any doubts or worries. We would be fearless. That’s amazing and thank you for sharing that with me! You are a miracle and yes, there’s hope for everyone. Thank you for reading!✨💗
