This has been heavy on my heart ever since I heard about the El Paso mass shooting in Texas, and the one that happened in Dayton, Ohio – they happened back to back. Once I heard about both of the shootings that happened, I wanted to say something. I wanted to say the words: “America, we need to do better; we must do better.” However, I chose to stay silent through all of it. My heart does hurt for the world we live in and it’s honestly so sad that it seems like most of the shooters who start these things are literally from the United States.
I know I have Kylie’s Corner & More subscribers from all over the word, I bet if you’re reading this right now and you’re not in the United States, you probably think that it’s scary living here. The United States is the land of the free, but why are these horrible, horrible things keep on happening in our Nation??
We should not be afraid to be away from our homes.
We should not be afraid about going to public events that have so many people attending.
We should not be afraid to literally go to the grocery store.
We should not be afraid to go out and do things we enjoy doing.
We should not have to worry about mass shootings happening and worrying about what if we will one day get stuck in it. PERIOD.
We should not have to worry about this and teach the children of our future to worry about these horrible things that happen in our world. Believe it or not, teachers do have to teach children about what to do if a gunman comes into their classroom or in their school. It caught me by surprise when I was a Catechist for Kindergarten at my church and one of my students asked me a question reguarding mass shootings because the student was scared. Y’all, when I was in Elementary school, I don’t remember a time of worrying about school shootings or even mass shootings for that matter.
As the entire world, we need to do better.
As I was watching the new last week at my Grandparents’ house, someone was talking about mass shootings and said, “It’s the new normal.” This person was refering to the mass shootings. I could not believe that, like this should not be “normal” at all!!
In the United States, there has been a total of 256 mass shootings so far this year and I pray that number doesn’t keep on growing. It should not ever get this bad, and mass shootings shouldn’t even be a thing. Side note: I received the statistic from gunviolencearchive.org
As I’m sitting down to write this post, it is August 11, 2019, and it is day 223 out of 365. The 256 mass shootings that America has had this year are so close to passing up the day we are on until the year ends. I don’t know about you, but that definitely puts things in perspective.
With that being said, I’m not giving up on our country and also not on the entire world. I know that there is hope for us and we need to have determination that the world will not be like this forever. For that to happen, we need to band together and we can’t give up sharing God’s Word, and showing people God’s love.
We need to be the light.
We have a job to do for God and we already know who is going to win this battle.
We need to start being kind to one another.
We need to start taking care of our mental health.
We need to let others know that they aren’t alone.
This world needs God so much and it doesn’t even know it.
We need to keep on sharing God’s Word with everyone instead of feeling ashamed to speak up about it.
We need love, lots of it.
Most importantly, we need to be one voice and take action. We can’t live like this forever and it’s disappointing when these tragedies have become the “new normal.” Why is it that we keep on waiting for something to happen, like a change in mass shootings and we just let every single one of them pass by as if it is nothing?
When will enough be enough?
We all need to be the light for God and let his light shine down on this world.
I pray that the world wakes up and we are capable of turning the world around, but we need God to be in it first. We need more of Him and my heart goes out to everyone who has been involved in these horrible, sickening tragedies. May God be with them all and I pray they have found peace, and hope for humanity.

“Jesus is with me always.”
“He came and conquered.”
“And now He’s calling me.”
“To breathe again”
