Today, we tend to focus more and more on what people might think about us. We ask ourselves, “If I do this, then what will people think of me?” or “What will people say?”

Why do we worry so much about other people talking about us as if we try to gain the approval of others?

Why do we care so much?

Why do we yearn to be noticed, especially on social media?

Why is getting a certain amount of “likes” on social media so important to us? Then, when we don’t get the certain amount of “likes” on a picture we are wanting to have, then we start to think that no one “likes” us.

Honestly, making every single person happy is literally like walking on eggshells making sure you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings, and making sure that you always say the right thing.

There are so many questions as to why we care so much about what other people think of us. When you do this, you’ll start to over-analyze every single thing that you do and it will definitely cause you to have anxiety. Even if you think that people are watching your every move, in reality, they aren’t.

If you’re struggling with worrying about what other people think of you, I have some tips for you on how you can stop this cycle.

Clear Your Mind Of Any Negative Thoughts

What I mean by negative thoughts, they are the thoughts you tell yourself when you put all your focus on thinking about what other people might think of you – get all of that out of your head! Say goodbye to those negative thoughts because they aren’t welcomed here! By doing this, it will help you feel more relaxed and it will also help reduce your worrying. I also do this when I go for a walk in the mornings and I always feel relaxed shortly after!

Be Yourself No Matter What Anyone Says

Yes!! This one is a HUGE tip to do and in my opinion, everyone should be doing this. It does not matter what you wear. It does not matter what type of makeup products you have on your face – drug store or high-end, it’s all the same. It does not matter what you look like. Anyone and everyone can wear whatever they feel most comfortable in. There shouldn’t be no body shaming. We are all beautiful in our own way. God didn’t create us for everyone to be same and to look the same way. He created us all differently and we’re all unique. That is why it’s okay to be different from this world and we should embrace it instead of being ashamed of being different. Be yourself no matter what.

Truly Know That What God Thinks Of You Is What Matters The Most

When you know that you’re beautiful in God’s eyes and that you shouldn’t change a thing about the way you look or your personality, you won’t be having to worrry about what other people may be thinking about you. Honestly, who cares what they think or if they judge you – the only thing that should matters is what GOD thinks of you, and that’s it.

Know That You’re Loved By God

This tip goes along with knowing that what matters the most is what God thinks of you, but it is so important to know that God loves you, and He does. You are His Daughter or His Son. He loves you so much and He would never want to change a thing about you.

“You are loved more than you will ever know by someone who died to know you.” -Romans 5:8

Jesus did that for you.

Focus More On What God Wants From You

It’s easy to focus on the world and what is happening in it – it’s easy to get caught up in all of it. Society actually asks a lot from us like, we need to have the perfect life, perfect clothes, perfect house, perfect job, etc. – the list can go on forever! In reality, life isn’t perfect and it can kinda get messy at times. We weren’t meant to be perfect; we were created for a reason and we do have a job to do for God. We should always keep our eyes on God instead of focusing on things going on in this world. Don’t do something in your life just because, do it for God and that should help you to stop focusing on what other people think of you.

Stop Looking to Society for Approval

Okay, last tip! I know we have all been there where we wear the lastest trends or own the “next big thing” like, electronics, jewlery, cars, and basically anything popular in society! I have even been there, too. I remember when I was in Elementary and also in Middle School, I wanted to wear what everyone was wearing. For instance, I wore Converse just because the girls that were at my school were wearing them. I also remember wearing Sperries, too (a type of boat shoe and no, I don’t even fish at all!) My point is that when I was younger, I used to want to be like everyone else just because I wanted to “fit in.” Ha, some things do change because I’m not that girl anymore! To be honest, I don’t even own a pair of Converse or Sperries anymore – I have my own style and I do not want to ever blend in with other people again just because everyone else had this urge to be accepted.

My Sweet Friends, you don’t need to gain anyone’s approval, especially from society. Don’t ever stop being unique and you shouldn’t be ashamed of being different from everyone else. Embrace it! Lastly, the only approval you have to gain is God’s and He wouldn’t ever want to change a thing about you.

I hope you have found one tip that you’re going to start doing in your life and I pray that these tips has inspired you to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks about you.

When you find the time, please listen to “Through My Father’s Eyes” by Holly Starr. Such an inspiring song and music video!

“I know it’s hard to see through what this world will tell you ’cause misconceptions and false reflections will never be the truth. Just know I’m not the only one who’s ever cried for help. Jesus loves you in ways that you cannot love yourself. I’m loving what I can see with His spirit alive in me. I’m finding beauty for the first time looking through my Father’s eyes.”

  1. ”God didn’t create us for everyone to be same and to look the same way. He created us all differently and we’re all unique.”

Yes ma’am! We’re particular folks cup of coffee. Not everyone’s!

This is what I’m experiencing in my blogging journey. Not everyone is going to understand me and not everyone wants to be my friend… I feel particularly (I really don’t know the word for it) since I’ve been sharing my testimony. I know not everyone is comfortable with it, because some people have never been exposed to such things… but oddly enough it’s not weird by today’s standards.

Thank you for another great post! And just being you!

    1. Yes!🙌🏻 I like that better than the cup of tea saying! Not everyone is supposed to understand us and that’s okay! I get what you’re saying and it probably comes down to what they experienced in their past – the way I see it, your story inspires me especially since my past was a dark place, too. You probably feel unusual about opening up about it, but it will get better. So please don’t let people discourage you from sharing what you have been through because I know that your story has potential to inspire others like it did for me! Keep on being you, John!☺️

  2. Amen! More encouragement to my soul. Over the weekend pas preached on this and bless the Lord for talking through this again to me, for I do struggle with what other’s think about me. Trust me it’s very hard. But I’m getting there slowly but surely with God’s help. ❤ Truly uplifting message God gave you to share along with great tips! One thing though, the picture you used for the question with the lady with the bush covering one of her eyes, that's a symbol in the industry of music, photography, acting, etc that represents the eye of Horus you can search it up. The symbol is evil, it's apart of the illumanti agenda. They try to pretty it up to make them look like clean photos. So I urge you to be careful with the images you download for the blog to create the banners and stuff ok. I needed to tell you that. 🙂 God bless & continue to use you!

  3. Love this encouraging post! It’s hard to remember sometimes yet so true that what we have, wear, etc. really does not matter–the question that matters is whether we are using our lives to glorify God! I was the same way when I was younger, wanting to look like the popular kids, but I have my own style now, too. 🙂
