I honestly love going into a brand new year because it’s like a new start. We leave the old year behind and we focus on bettering ourselves. We do things that we wished we would have done in the previous year and we also grow as an individual.
I feel like 2018 broke me and made me trust God even more than before. 2019 showed me how strong I really am and that I can get through anything with God by my side. I felt like I was losing myself in 2019 and I didn’t feel like myself. Half of 2019, I dealt with going to many, many doctors’ appointments, getting several rounds of blood tests done, and now, going to a chiropractor to help with my PCOS. Towards the end of 2019, I even made new changes to my life that I want to keep doing this year. 2019 was all about me putting my health first, for once and 2020 will be a new me, who will push through and become a warrior.
Here are the goals that I want to accomplish this year!
1. Be More Understanding
There are many things that we don’t know that people are dealing with on the inside. There is a reason why someone acts a certain way. We don’t know the whole story or see the entire picture. I need to be mindful of this and realize that people do things to fill some void in their hearts.
2. Be Present
I started doing this towards the end of 2019. Most of 2019, I stopped showing up to things and even missed church so many times. I was going crazy to the point there were times where I didn’t have the motivation to attend events and other times, I distanced myself from people because I didn’t want them to see me like that. I was an emotional mess and I just wanted to do things on my own, without any help from others.
I realized that other people might need me when I don’t even know it. I also realized that who knows when the last time we will get to see someone. Life is short, y’all. It’s just so unbelievable that our life can be over in a flash. At times, it does scare me to think about, especially hearing about people I went to school with and who were my age passing away. It’s eye-opening to me because we never know how much time we have left in this world. We should do the things we have always dreamt about doing and do it now.
3. Focus On Myself And Only Worry About Me
In 2019, I would focus on what other people were doing and trying to save them in a way. I’m that person who tries with all their might to keep people from getting hurt. I cared way too much to the point it would stress me out. That’s honestly not good for my health. I’m now learning to focus on my own actions instead of worrying about what someone else is doing. It’s hard because I always want to protect people from things that have the potential to destroy them.
4. Be The Healthiest Version of Myself
I still need to take care of myself first in order to take care of other people. In 2020, I want to focus on implementing the new changes in my life and I honestly am starting to feel more like myself now! The 2019 Kylie was just so scared and didn’t know what was going on with her body. Now, the 2020 Kylie, knows exactly what to do to help her feel better. The 2020 Kylie, fully trusts God with her health and now has the strength to keep going. Lastly, I am not going to let PCOS control me because I know that I’m not defined by it, my worth comes from God, and God alone.
5. Keep On Going Even When Things Are Difficult
Here is my last goal for 2020. In 2019, I felt like it was difficult for me to keep on going and it was like I was just going through the motions, just trying to make it. I even made all A’s this past Fall semester of college and that honestly was a miracle from God because a lot happened in that semester. I felt like I was stuck and I didn’t know where to go or what my next move would be. In 2020, I want to have the strength to keep on going, even when I don’t have all the answers, and I still don’t. I want to be a cheerleader for myself and I always tell myself that I’m going to be okay. I’m still so proud of the 2019 Kylie and I can see her blossoming even more in 2020.
Those are my goals for 2020! What would you like to accomplish in 2020? Let me know in the comments of this blog post!
