For those of you who are new here, I have documented my journey about finding out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I go through everything from explaining what my body went through that led me to take action by going to the Doctor because I felt like something was totally off with my hormones to even discussing the different blood tests I have taken, my thoughts on birth control, balancing my hormones naturally, and the supplements I’m now taking. I explain everything I went through and you can find My PCOS Journey Pinterest Board here. I put all the blog posts in order on the Pinterest board, so it is easy for y’all to get to it!
In the last blog post of the series, I explained all the supplements I would be taking. A lot has changed since then.
First, I mentioned how I also take Evening Primrose Oil once a day and since the beginning of March, I have stopped taking it. I still take the rest of the supplements I have mentioned in that blog post. I was told to stop taking it because it was messing with my cycle.
I will also be getting all my hormones retested again sometime towards the beginning of October because I am curious to see if my DHEA-S has decreased or not since the last time I got it tested in November of 2019! I am also curious if the supplements have been helping my hormones. Since taking the supplements, I can tell that my anxiety has reduced some and I have been taking them for 2 months now!
I can tell that the supplements are attempting to regulate my cycle again. My cycle has been pretty long than it normally would be – from February to March, the length of my cycle was 37 days and my period was really late in March!
Before taking the supplements, the length of my cycle would be exactly 28 days and my cycle has been like that ever since I started getting adjustments and acupuncture! So because of this, I can see that these supplements are just trying to level everything out right now and I know it will probably take awhile for my cycle to go back to where it was before taking the supplements.
I was also aware not too long ago that I need to stay away from chocolate, food that has Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), Fructose – this is going to be difficult because I love my fruits, corn syrup and refined sugar products. So, basically I need to stay away from sugar!
I really don’t know where to start at this moment because it is definitely a lot to take in! I know that the food I eat has an impact on my body and also my hormones. I actually love eating healthy foods because it makes my body feel great and I know I’m helping it by eating healthy, but during this time, I haven’t been eating that great. I do try my best to at least somewhat healthy and I do the best I can. Also, if I eat healthy regularly on a daily basis, I have less acne on my face, but if I don’t eat healthy for some of the time, my face breaks out so much. My stomach even hates the foods that aren’t healthy and I don’t like how the inside of my body feels after I eat something – it’s difficult for my stomach to digest, just saying! That is why eating healthy is so important for me to do and I need to keep it up, even though it’s hard to do at times! Anyways, I know I will have a plan for what foods I should and shouldn’t eat for my body after this whole coronavirus situation ends!
Here is a progress picture that I took two weeks ago that I was so proud of:
I have shown y’all the first picture before I was on supplements and the second picture was taken on April 7, 2020! On that day, I was on the supplements for a month and twenty-one days! I definitely could see some improvements! However, I noticed that when I start praising my skin and be like, “it’s finally clearing up!” Guess what? My face starts breaking out again and that’s what it did towards the end of that week I took the second picture! As I’m writing this blog post on April 17, my face still has acne everywhere and it’s probably because my period is coming soon.
I just wanted to share the highs and the lows with y’all, plus be real with y’all!
I’m going to keep on being positive and believing that my face will all clear up and stay like that for good, it takes a lot of patience! I feel like if I just think that my face is just never going to clear up and how my hormones are going to stay unbalanced, then that’s what I’ll get and I wouldn’t notice the positives. That is why I need to keep on staying positive!
Precious things take times and it will be worth it once everything is finally balanced!
I hope you learned something from reading this blog post and I’m honestly not ashamed for talking about these things on the Kylie’s Corner & More blog because I know that there is someone out there who has PCOS also and feels lost. They were probably told that birth control was their only option and I’m sharing my journey with all of you because I know that day will come where I do say that it is possible to regulate your hormones without taking birth control.
I love y’all and thank you for being on this journey with me!
I added a new page to this blog and I encourage all of you to check it out! For those of you who are new here, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in December of 2019. I have been documenting everything that I have been through and experienced – from discussing my symptoms before I knew what was wrong, all the way to what I am doing now to help my body. My goal is to balance my hormones naturally without taking birth control. I want to give other women with PCOS hope that birth control isn’t the only option. All of the details about My PCOS journey Pinterest board can be found here.
