This is another blog post about my Polycystic Ovarian Journey (PCOS). If you’re new here, welcome! Have you ever felt like you just weren’t yourself?

I felt that way once I stopped seeing my chiropractor weekly because of the coronavirus.

Why did I stop going? I honestly didn’t want to go anywhere and I thought that I needed to stop going since I didn’t want any of my loved ones to get the virus because of me; I was putting my loved ones first.

I mentioned in this blog post saying that the last time I went to my chiropractor was on March 25, 2020 and I just went back on May 18, 2020.

In this time frame of not seeing my chiropractor for almost two months, I wasn’t myself and my loved ones also noticed that.

My mental state was everywhere and I shouldn’t have let it get that bad.

I had a lot of negative thoughts and I felt like all I did was cause problems.

I was depressed. I didn’t know how to get out of it.

Just in the almost two months of not seeing my chiropractor once a week, I felt so different on the inside.

I was so emotional.

I got tired of feeling the way I was feeling and I knew I had to go back to going to the chiropractor every week.

I didn’t know how much my body missed the adjustments and getting acupuncture done until once I went back. Let me tell you, after my appointment, I felt so happy and it was like my body shifted in a way from being depressed to being back to my normal, happy self. My mental state was so much better than before the appointment and I felt so positive about my life.

It was so crazy to me when I first realized that my body truly did miss going to the chiropractor and how getting adjustments and acupuncture made such a huge difference! Now, I always make it a priority to keep on going, especially when I know that my body needs it the most.

I love getting acupuncture done on my body because I lie down on my back without moving my body for fifteen minutes and during this time, I talk to God about everything. This time is basically my “me” time where I put my body as a priority over anything that is going on in my life.

I also recently started taking another supplement and I mentioned the other supplements I have been taking in this blog post. My chiropractor/dietitian, who wanted me to take those supplements, wanted me to take Vitex agnus-catus. Vitex is some kind of berry that comes from a Chaste Tree and it is supposed to help regulate my cycle because right now it has been irregular. I started taking it on May 20, 2020, so I haven’t noticed if it has been helping my body just yet.

If you are curious about Vitex and you are a girl reading this, Vitex isn’t supposed to be taken if you are on birth control. Always, always make sure you do your own research on supplements/medication before you do decide to take whatever it is because you need to know if there are any side effects that you will need to look out for and how it will either help or harm your body; you need to know if whatever it is will help your body instead of hurting it. So, please educate yourself!

Anyways, it is important to make sure you are listening to your body by giving it what it needs. I’m thankful I overall feel so much better ever since I started going back to the chiropractor!

Your body matters.

Your mental health matters.

The way you feel matters.

YOU matter.

I just want to say that I will be writing a blog post about the Black Lives Matter Movement because I refuse to remain silent and I will use my words to hopefully make a change in this dark world we are in. I encourage all of you to use your voice even when it shakes and even when you feel uncomfortable speaking up about it. We need to change and I truly believe if we all speak up and all do something about it, we will make a huge difference in this world! The reason why the blog post will be up next week instead of this week is because I write these blog post in a week of advance. For instance, I wrote this blog post last week and during this week, I am working on the blog posts for next week! Anyways, it will be coming soon and I encourage all of you to speak up about how you’re feeling – let it all out.

I added a new page to this blog and I encourage all of you to check it out! For those of you who are new here, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in December of 2019. I have been documenting everything that I have been through and experienced – from discussing my symptoms before I knew what was wrong, all the way to what I am doing now to help my body. My goal is to balance my hormones naturally without taking birth control. I want to give other women with PCOS hope that birth control isn’t the only option. It’s amazing how much our bodies constantly tell us what we need and how often we look the other way. We are the only ones who can take care of ourselves! Keep on taking care of yourself!

      1. I’m curious too and I should see some improvements in three months, which I haven’t been taking Vitex for a month yet! I will definitely keep y’all updated on it! I do feel like since being on Vitex, my acne has gotten worse, but that also happened when I started taking the other supplements I’m on; my acne got worse before it got better! I was also seeing improvements in my acne right before I started taking Vitex, but I am hopeful that it will start clearing up again!

Thank you, I’m happy I’m feeling much better and I’m back to feeling like myself! So true and our bodies tell us so much, we just have to always be listening to it!
