For those of you who don’t know, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome back in December of 2019. I have documented my journey even before I was diagnosed with it. You can read the first blog post about it here! I have been documenting this journey ever since and my goal at the end of this is to balance my hormones naturally without being on birth control. I was told my my former Endocrinologist that birth control was my only option to help my PCOS. I haven’t seen him since and I’m here to prove him wrong; along with giving other women hope that it is possible to balance hormones without birth control! This is why I have been documenting my journey on this blog!

Some things don’t work and some things do work – it’s a matter of seeing what works for your body.

I have been learning this throughout my journey of trying to figure out a way to balance my hormones, help my mental health, have more energy, clear my acne, and reduce unwanted hair on my chin. Also, balance out my cycle because it has been everywhere! I also had painful periods starting in June of 2019 to the point I was throwing up, my cramps were painful, and I felt like I was going to pass out. Ever since I started getting adjustments and acupuncture, I no longer have painful periods like that and I’m so grateful to say that!

I added Vitex to the list of supplements I take starting on May 20, 2020 and stopped taking it on June 26, 2020. I was told to take a break from it for a month because I could tell that it was messing with my cycle. It was full month without being on Vitex on July 26, 2020.

I told my Chiropractor, who has been helping me with my supplements, about how it had been a month without taking Vitex and my mental health got so bad, it was the worst it has ever been. I could feel a mixture of anxiety along with depression and it felt like I couldn’t get out of this mindset I was in. Along with that, my face started breaking out when I was in that mindset and I could tell that if my mental health was bad, then my face would be breaking out.

At the beginning of this journey of trying to find what will help my body to balance out hormones, I talked about possibly taking inositol (it sounds scary, but it’s basically Vitamin B8), but then I found out the vitamins I was borderline and deficient in, so I ended up not taking inositol at first. It will also be six months of being on the vitamins and a probiotic on August 16, 2020 because I started taking them on February 16, 2020!

Inositol is known to help women who have PCOS. I was reading a study about it helping acne and lowering the level of DHEAS, which is a hormone and mine was way out of the normal range when I had it tested back in November of 2020! I haven’t gotten my DHEAS tested again to see where it is now and I was going to soon, but I really don’t want to go into a hospital right now just to get my blood tested! You can read the study I found here about inositol helping women with PCOS.

Inositol is also known to reduce anxiety and depression – I’m telling all of you about this because I’m going to be on inositol soon and I will of course document what it does to my body, I’m hoping it will help me, especially with my mental health!

Side note: I started taking inositol in the powdered form today, August 5, 2020 and I will update y’all when I start to see improvements, especially in my mental health and skin! I’m praying that inositol will help me so much.

At this point, it is trial and error! If something doesn’t help my body, I don’t give up or be disappointed because I have faith and hope that there is something out there that will help my body including my mental health.

If something doesn’t work for you or doesn’t help you, that just means to try again and find something else that will help you be the best you can be.

Whatever you do, please don’t give up. There is something out there just for you and it just takes a matter of time to find it. This is all part of the journey and it is what makes it a journey! So, keep on trying and don’t give up! This goes for anything you want to accomplish in life because if we fail, what do we do? We might cry about it at first, but then we get back up, and try again by doing something different!

I am determined to find something that will help my body and mental health because I know I need help. I’m focusing on getting myself better and I’m hoping that the inositol will help, we will find out!

That’s where I’m at now! It’s crazy to think that last year, during the end of July, I found out that my DHEAS was high and had no idea what DHEAS even was! During this time, I was just now starting to begin this journey of finding out what was going on with my body and the reason behind all the symptoms I had. It’s so crazy to look back and see how far I have come! When someone tells you that something is your only option, prove them wrong because there are so many things out there that you haven’t tried yet and you don’t know if it’s really your only option. My Endocrinologist told me birth control was my only option for PCOS and I haven’t seen him since he diagnosed – he didn’t help me at all! But, guess what? When someone doesn’t give me the help I need, I go to someone else who will actually help me and listen to my needs. I highly reccomend you doing that if you feel like no one is helping you; please don’t settle for less. Your body deserves better than that.

You deserve better.

I added a new page to this blog and I encourage all of you to check it out! For those of you who are new here, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in December of 2019. I have been documenting everything that I have been through and experienced – from discussing my symptoms before I knew what was wrong, all the way to what I am doing now to help my body. My goal is to balance my hormones naturally without taking birth control. I want to give other women with PCOS hope that birth control isn’t the only option.
